Hi! I’m Emily…
After a decade working in the entertainment industry, creating stories inspired by the world around me, I realized that my true passion lay in witnessing real stories told by real people. And so I pivoted, earning a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles.
I consider myself lucky to be able to combine all my work and education experiences into one career. As a therapist with a B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania and a background in professional writing, I have a great appreciation for the ways language and narratives influence how we see ourselves and our place in the world. Through thoughtful exploration, we can identify and rewrite narratives that no longer serve you, creating space for a more authentic and empowering story.
I understand that seeking therapy and challenging your unwanted behaviors can feel vulnerable and overwhelming. My role is to provide a safe space filled with trust, compassion, curiosity, and even humor, where we can work collaboratively to find the treatment plan that best fits your goals and values. My practice is proudly neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ affirming.
My Areas of focus
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
OCD can sometimes feel like a bully. In therapy we can reevaluate your relationship with OCD, understand its true intentions, and put you back in control. I like to use a combination of parts work, exposures, and ACT, so you can build towards a life guided by your values and not by your fears. I also understand that you are human, so I’ll leave room for more than just OCD work if you need it.
chronic illness
Battling with chronic illnesses can be exhausting in more ways than just living with daily symptoms. I understand that navigating a health care system more interested in optimizing quarterly earnings than in your complex needs can take a toll. I strive to provide a safe space where your pain is believed, so you can move on to the more important work of healing.
creative professionals
In a profession where your creativity and art is capitalized, it is easy to lose sight of the passion that brought you to the work in the first place. I support creative individuals in navigating burnout, perfectionism, and uncertainty so they can reconnect with their purpose and thrive both personally and professionally.
Women & Non-binary mental health
I recognize the resilience it takes to navigate a world that often places conflicting expectations on how women and non-binary individuals should show up in the world. I believe therapy can be a powerful space to examine these pressures, challenge limiting narratives, and cultivate a stronger connection to your authentic self.
My Approach
I love to integrate a variety of modalities into my work, tailoring my style to your unique needs. Since I don’t believe in cookie-cutter people, your treatment plan shouldn’t feel that way either — nor should any one diagnosis overshadow the complexity of your human experience. Theories you can expect me to pull from include:
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Narrative Therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Attachment Theory
Feminist Theory
Expressive Arts Therapy
